Board of Directors The Board of Directors of Century Museum & Collectors Accociation will have final say on all decisions concerning
the running of the museum.
Museum Curators A. Up to three
persons will be appointedby the Board of Directors of the Museum and to administer the running of the museum.
B.
They will report to the Board of Directors
C. A Curator must have sufficient free time and the willingness to spend
enough time to properly execute the responsibilities of a Curator.
D. A Curator must be knowledgeable of museums,
the operation of museums and; the culture, artifacts, and history of the time period that the museum addresses.(1870-1920's)
E. The Curators will plan for various educational activities such as: school groups tours of the museum, running Craft
Workshops related to the museum, etc.
G. Will try to recruit persons to be Exhibit Chairman of exhibits as needed.
H. Assist the Exhibit Chairman with; setting up exhibits, writing up a descripitive summary of the exhibit, etc.
Exhibit Chairman
The person responsible for setting up, organizing and maintaining
the exhibits in the museum. An exhibit chairman is appointed by the curators and confirmed by the directors.
Staff Volunteer
A volunteer trained by the curators and/or exhibit chairman about the exhibits
in the museum. These persons will be educated about the displays and the best way to communicate this information with the
public.
General Guidelines
In order tp simplify the preparation for the museum
openings and elimanate last minute confusion and the following procedures and practices will be followed:
Final Review
A. A "Dress Rehearsal" type of review will be conducted two days before an
event is scheduled to open. In the case of the Dutchess County Fair on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
B. The "final
Review" will be performed by the Directors of the C.M.V.C.A. and they will as a group examine each exhibit and discuss
any questions or concerns with the Curators and Exhibit Chairman until they are satified that the exhibit is ready.
C. The critera used to determine the readiness of the exhibit includes the following;
1.) Compatibility of all
items in the exhibit within the time frame of the museum, 1870-1920's.
2.) Key items in an exhibit may need
labels or signs to foster improved public understanding.
3.) The people signed up to staff an exhibit should all
be aware of the need to come dressed in a manner compatible with the Museum time frame.
4.) All aspects of an exhibit
are safe for the public.
D. NO CHANGES can be made to an exhibit after the review. Requests for exceptions will
have to be approved by the Board of Directors.
A. Only persons assigned to and scheduled to be working in an exhibit
should be in an exhibit:
B. Concerns and questions about these guidelines should be brought to the Directors as
long before a show as possible; short notice will always tend to reduce options.
C. No one shall promote themselves,
bussiness, group, or organazation other than the CMVCA or the Dutchess County Fair while working ath the museum during the
fair or other events.
